Standard 1.3 Policies, Procedures, Programs & Funding
Candidates research, recommend, and implement policies, procedures, programs and funding strategies to support implementation of the shared vision represented in the school, district, state, and federal technology plans and guidelines. Funding strategies may include the development, submission, and evaluation of formal grant proposals. (PSC 1.3/ISTE 1c)
Artifact: Action and Evaluation Plan The action and evaluation plan was created to create goals for my school. These goals would be to lead towards the school having more technology and technology use for the engagement and enrichment of students. This artifacts gave time frames for how long it would take to implement technology into lessons, increase devices, gain technology coaches and more. This plan also gave steps that the school would have to take to reach those goals in the given time frame.
This artifact consist of taking each goal and looking into/ researching the procedures that would be needed for it to work such as who would be responsible for the goal and the evaluation process. Each goal had a timeline for how long it would possibly take to be implemented. After researching each goal needed a success indicator. A way of budgeting also had to be determined for each goal set. From this artifact I learned that when making improvements in a school, there are many factors to pay attention to. There is also a lot of careful planning that must take place. You have to look at a timeline, strategies, evaluation methods, budget, who is responsible for what and success indicators. I also learned that some improvements that we want done in a school that involve technology could take years to completely implement. All improvements won’t happen right away. If I could do anything in this artifact differently, I would find more potential solutions for the action and evaluation plan. I would also take more time to plan out and research how to improve my school. The work that went into this artifact impacted school improvement because it gave ways to improve technology use in the school. It planned for teachers to use more technology, for an increase in technology literacy, an increase in devices in classrooms, and a permanent technology coach. |

Artifact: Technology Integration Grant
Reflection:
The Technology grant was an artifact to help the candidate experience grant writing to earn money for technology projects and initiatives. For this artifact the candidate used a project that really needs to be done at her current school to get a feel for how writing a grant for that particular project would actually be.
Standard 1.3 states that the candidate should be able to research, recommend and implement policies, procedures programs and funding. The standards specifies that writing grants is an effective strategy for funding technology projects and initiatives. This project required the candidate to research what her current school needed for a project and grants that could be used to fund the project This artifact also required the candidate to learn and practice effectively writing a grant.
Completing this artifact was important because it showed the importance of knowing how to effectively write a grant to get funding at a school. Technology projects and initiatives are expensive and it is difficult for a school to fund the types of projects that they need or want. It is important as a technology coach or leader in the building to know how to effectively write a grant so that the school can get the projects needed and/or wanted complete.
