Artifact: Data Overview
Reflection:
The Data Overview in ITEC 7305 was a PowerPoint presentation that focused on how Russell did in comparison to the district and state on the math portion of the GA Milestone. This is due to Russell’s students struggling in math. Russell focuses a lot on student improvement in math. In the presentation the candidate looked at data concerning Russell’s attendance, demographics, discipline, and of course trends on the GA Milestone assessment for the past three years.
This artifact shows mastery of this standard by using the GaDOE website , Power Points from staff professional developments and administration at the school to obtain the information needed to complete the artifact. After obtaining the information the candidate had analyze and interpret the information to complete the PowerPoint.
This artifact taught me more about my school and my school’s data. This artifact also taught me the importance of collecting data and using it to come up with a plan to fix/ improve the patterns of performance at your school. If I could change something about the artifact, I would want to find more patterns and data on my school. I would also, probably go further to look at the data in comparison to schools with same/similar demographics and different demographics.
This artifact impacted student learning and school improvement. Looking at the patterns based on data could help the faculty and staff find ways to improve negative patterns at the school so that the school can improve. The artifact also helps teachers look at what is and is not working to help improve instruction for students and to better meet student needs in the school.
