5.3 Program Evaluation
Candidates design and implement program evaluations to determine the overall effectiveness of professional learning on deepening teacher content knowledge, improving teacher pedagogical skills and/or increasing student learning. (PSC 5.3/ISTE 4c)
Artifact: Action Evaluation Plan
Reflection:
The action evaluation plan was completed in ITEC 7460. The plan reviews some of the goals for my current school, Russell Elementary School. Goals were set for skilled teachers, instructional change, student focused, diversity considerations, and school related. Each goal includes a variety of strategies, responsible parties, and evaluations to help reach the given goal.
This artifact shows mastery of this standard because it shows that I am able to design and implement a plan for my school and determine the overall effectiveness. I was able to show that I could prepare a plan that would help with the professional development of other teachers at my school. If I could change one thing about the artifact, I would give the staff more time to receive the professional developments and would give more time to expect major results from the professional developments. As my first few years of teaching continue I have noticed that there are many different professional developments required of us and there is not a lot of time. Learning and implementing effective tools and strategies takes time in the school.
This artifact impacts school improvement and faculty development. The plan is set in place to improve teacher performance to better student growth throughout the school. Student growth and teacher growth will positively effect school scores.
