3.6 Selecting and Evaluating Digital Tools & Resources
Candidates collaborate with teachers and administrators to select and evaluate digital tools and resources for accuracy, suitability, and compatibility with the school technology infrastructure. (PSC 3.6/ISTE 3f)
Artifact: Evaluating Emerging Technologies
Reflection:
In ITEC 7445 we completed the Evaluating Emerging Technologies project. In this project each student picked a web tool to look into and determine how it fits the school technology plan and how it will benefit students and staff at the school. In this artifact I chose to make my PowerPoint presentation on MobyMax. In the presentation I discussed how its limitation benefits, what it is, ways to use it in the classroom and more.
This artifact demonstrates the mastery of the standards because it was used to show staff members the benefits of using the tool in the classroom school wide. It also shows the pros and cons of using the tool and shows the staff and administrators how the tool related to the school plan.
This artifact showed me the importance of researching the benefits and the disadvantages of tools when preparing to present it to an entire faculty and staff or when trying to present the tool to administration. If I could do anything different, I would have tried it with students so that I could have examples of the pros and cons to show when I presented.
This artifact impacted school improvement. It gave the teachers an effective tool to use for student improvement in areas where the school is lacking.
